Correction Policy
Purpose
RJCCN is committed to ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the scholarly record. When errors are identified in published articles, the journal will take appropriate action to correct the literature in a transparent and timely manner.
Corrections are intended to address errors that do not invalidate the overall findings or conclusions of the work. More serious issues that affect the reliability or integrity of a publication may require an Expression of Concern or Retraction.
Types of Corrections
Erratum
An Erratum is issued when an error originates from the journal, publisher, or production process. Examples include:
- Typographical errors introduced during publication.
- Formatting errors affecting interpretation.
- Incorrect author affiliations caused during production.
- Errors in figures, tables, or supplementary materials introduced after acceptance.
Corrigendum
A Corrigendum is issued when authors identify an error in their published work that requires correction but does not compromise the validity of the study's findings.
Examples include:
- Errors in author information.
- Minor inaccuracies in data presentation.
- Errors in figure labels, tables, or references.
- Omission of acknowledgments, funding information, or conflict-of-interest disclosures.
Requesting a Correction
Authors, readers, reviewers, or editors may notify the journal of a potential error in a published article.
Requests should include:
- The article title and DOI.
- A clear description of the error.
- The proposed correction.
- Supporting documentation, where applicable.
All requests will be reviewed by the Editorial Office and, when necessary, by the Editor-in-Chief and relevant editorial board members.
Evaluation Process
The journal will assess:
- The nature and severity of the error.
- Whether the error affects the interpretation of the work.
- Whether the scientific conclusions remain valid.
- Whether additional editorial action is required.
Authors may be asked to provide clarification or supporting information during the review process.
Publication of Corrections
When a correction is approved:
- A formal correction notice will be published.
- The correction notice will be linked to the original article.
- The original article and correction notice will be cross-referenced.
- The date of correction will be clearly indicated.
- The correction notice will describe the changes made.
The correction process will be transparent to readers while preserving the integrity of the scholarly record.
Minor Errors
Minor typographical, grammatical, or formatting errors that do not affect the interpretation, scientific content, metadata, or discoverability of the article may be corrected without issuing a formal correction notice at the discretion of the Editorial Office.
Expression of Concern
If credible concerns arise regarding the integrity of a publication and an investigation is ongoing, RJCCNephrology may publish an Expression of Concern to inform readers until a final decision is reached.
Relationship to Retractions
Errors that significantly affect the reliability, validity, or integrity of a publication may not be suitable for correction and may instead result in retraction in accordance with the journal's Retraction Policy.
Editorial Responsibility
The Editor-in-Chief has final responsibility for decisions regarding corrections. All actions will be guided by principles of transparency, fairness, research integrity, and best editorial practices.
Contact
Questions regarding corrections or requests to amend published content should be directed to the Editorial Office through the journal's official contact channels.
Note: RJCCN follows the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing and is guided by the recommendations of COPE and ICMJE.
